Serge Bento

Serge Bento , also Serge Benneteau (born November 25, 1931 in Paris as Serge Emile Benneteau-Desgrois ) is a French actor who worked mainly with the director Claude Chabrol . He played mostly minor roles in over 70 cinema and TV films and mini-series in France.

life and career

Born in Paris in 1931, Serge Bento, then still under the name Serge Benneteau, turned to film in his early twenties. He made his screen debut in Robert Bresson's drama Diary of a Country Pastor in the small role of Mitonnet. For almost 10 years, only minor roles followed as a minor actor, rarely mentioned in the credits.

In 1960 he met Claude Chabrol , who recognized his potential and cast him in a total of 13 of his films and gradually gave him bigger roles, such as that of the bookseller in Two Friends in 1968 alongside stars like Jean-Louis Trintignant , Jacqueline Sassard and Stéphane Audran , or in the drama The Unfaithful Woman, the role of Bignon a year later.

He played other roles in Chabrol's films in The Rift , The Innocents with Dirty Hands or in Violette Nozière .
