Bedford M series
The Bedford M-Series was a truck chassis that Bedford had manufactured since 1939. The chassis had rear-wheel drive and was designed for a payload of 2 to 3 tons. There were two wheelbases, 3,048 mm and 3,632 mm. In any case, it was powered by an in-line six-cylinder petrol engine
The engine power was transferred to the floating rear axle via a single-disc dry clutch, a manual four-speed gearbox and a worm gear. The hydraulically operated brakes came from Lockheed and are equipped with a brake booster.
There were seven variants of the M series:
- MS - short wheelbase 3,048 mm
- MSZ: chassis without body
- MSC: chassis with driver's cab
- MSD: side tipper
- MST: normal tipper
- ML - long wheelbase 3,632 mm
- MLZ: chassis without body
- MLC: chassis with driver's cab
- MLD: side tipper
