production
Only four JJLs were made, including the prototype. The "series vehicles" were:
Chassis number | UK registration number | Body code | Seats | construction time |
---|---|---|---|---|
IRK0JL9008 | UKX335X | Marshall 260250 | B24F | 1981 |
IRK0JL9009 | AVS903T | Marshall 260251 | B24F | November 1978 |
IRK0JL9010 | EKX648T | Marshall 260252 | B24F | 1978 |
IRK0JL9011 | HKX553V | Marshall 260253 | B24F | November 1979 |
The build date of the first chassis indicates that this was the prototype that was repurposed into a production copy. It should be noted, however, that these data do not match those of the following sources:
commitment
The traffic company in Maidstone took over the JJL 1981/1982. The buses with the registration numbers UKK 335X and AVS 903T were first sold to Brighton , then in 1992 to Northern Bus in Sheffield . EKX 648T also went to Brighton but was scrapped in 1988 after landing in a tree. HKX 553V was sold to the Bournemouth Local Transport Company in 1983 and then moved to the Goodman Group , where it was used with Rambler and Goodman buses. This is the last JJL still in use.
successor
At the end of the 1970s / beginning of the 1980s, midibuses were not in great demand, the JJL was a forerunner of the coming boom. Ten years later, Tricentrol built a short version of the Bedford YMQ chassis in Dunstable called the YMQ / S. This was, as well as z. B. the Dennis Dart , built in significantly larger numbers.
