The Bedford WHB and the Bedford WLB were chassis for buses from the British commercial vehicle manufacturer Bedford . The types are the first chassis for buses that Bedford manufactured.

The chassis is based on the light 2-tonne Bedford WLG truck , which has been in production since 1929. This truck was based on a Chevrolet design . The two chassis were constructed identically and only differed in their wheelbase. The WHB had a wheelbase of 131 inches (3.33 m) while the WLB had a wheelbase of 157 inches (3.99 m). At Bedford, the second letter in the type designation denoted the wheelbase of the vehicle, with H , later S for the short wheelbase, L for versions with a long wheelbase. The vehicles were powered by a six-cylinder gasoline engine manufactured by Bedford with a displacement of 3.18 liters . The engine developed 47 kW at 2800 rpm. He was rated with 27 tax horsepower . An unsynchronized four-speed gearbox was used as the transmission. The rear axle was driven by a differential gear with bevel gears. The mechanical brake system operated with a linkage was supported by a vacuum servo. The electrical system had a voltage of 24 V.

The superstructures were mostly made by Duple . Other coachbuilders that made bodies for the W were Waveney, Grose, Rainforth, and Plaxton. The superstructures for the WHB had 14 seats, those for the WHB 20.

Production of the chassis began in 1931 at the Vauxhall plant in Luton . Since demand remained low, production of the WHB was stopped in 1933 after 102 buses. The WLB was built in 1892 and production ended in 1935.
