The Rhens Jewish cemetery is a Jewish cemetery in Rhens , a town in the Mayen-Koblenz district ( Rhineland-Palatinate ). The cemetery is a protected cultural monument and is located on the Lützelforst between Rhens and Waldesch .

history

The Jewish community of Rhens laid out its own cemetery in the middle of the 19th century. The oldest surviving tombstone is from 1864 (Abraham Mayer), the youngest from 1932 (Susanne Mandel). There are still 34 tombstones ( mazewot ) in the 51.58 ares large cemetery .

The cemetery was desecrated during the National Socialist era , as well as in 1947 and 1992.
