Jewish cemetery (Niedermendig)
The Niedermendig Jewish Cemetery in Niedermendig , a district of the city of Mendig in the Mayen-Koblenz district in Rhineland-Palatinate , is a protected cultural monument . Today it is located in the middle of a new building area on Anne-Frank- Strasse.
history
The Jewish community in Niedermendig laid out the Jewish cemetery at the end of the 19th century. The cemetery covers an area of 7.15 acres and was largely destroyed during the National Socialist era . Most of the gravestones have no inscription panels. The last burial was in 1938 and today there are still 37 tombstones ( mazewot ).
