Jewish cemetery (Bassenheim)
The Jewish cemetery Bassenheim is a Jewish cemetery in Bassenheim , a municipality in the district of Mayen-Koblenz ( Rhineland-Palatinate ). The cemetery is located in the middle of a new development area on Im Sässel . The Jewish cemetery is a monument worth protecting .
history
The Jewish community in Bassenheim laid out its own cemetery around 1800. The last burial of the Jewish community in the 13.61 ares large cemetery was in 1942. From 1942 to 1945 the forced laborers from Poland and Russia who perished in the Eiserne Hand camp were buried in the cemetery. Today there are 29 tombstones ( mazewot ).
