Waldesch is a municipality in the Mayen-Koblenz district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Rhein-Mosel community .
geography
Located on the edge of the Koblenz city forest , Waldesch is also known as the gateway to the Hunsrück . The place has a junction ( 40 Koblenz / Waldesch ) to the A 61 . Koblenz is about ten kilometers north of the municipality. The location of Waldesch extends a good two kilometers along the B 327 in a sloping slope to the west. The Eschbach flows through the village . In the Kondertal, the Eschbach flows into the Konderbach , which rises to the southwest of Waldesch and is a right tributary of the Moselle .
history
Waldesch was first mentioned in a document in 1019 (then Asch ) in a deed of donation. At that time, Emperor Heinrich II transferred the site to the Kaufungen nunnery (see evidence under Trimbs ).
The area was settled earlier, however, as there are barrows in the area and objects of daily use that go with them have been found.
The old Roman road from Koblenz to Trier , which today's Hunsrückhöhenstraße ( B 327 ) follows on long stretches of road, leads directly past the village.
In 1944 the Catholic parish vicarie St. Antonius , which had existed since 1906, was elevated to a parish . In 1951 the Dieblicher districts of Naßheck and Mariaroth were changed from the parish of Dieblich to the parish of St. Antonius Waldesch.

Waldesch has its own elementary school run by the community and a kindergarten run by the Catholic parish.
Waldesch community center
Cultural events, village festivals, carnival and Christmas market take place in the town center, which was newly built in 1997.
