Kollig auf dem Maifeld is a municipality in the Mayen-Koblenz district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Maifeld Association , which has its administrative headquarters in the city of Polch .

geography

Kollig is located five kilometers southwest of the city of Polch and eight kilometers southeast of the city of Mayen on a hill that slopes west towards the Elzbach . The village covers altitudes between 280  m above sea level. NHN and 305  m above sea level NHN . In terms of natural space, the east of the municipal area with the main town can be assigned to the Obermaifeld , while the west to the Elztal . There the municipality reaches the Elzbach with 200  m above sea level. NHN its lowest point on the ground , its highest on the outer western border and at the natural transition to the Kaisersescher Eifelrand with almost 380  m above sea level. NHN . The Kolliger Mühle and Ölmühle residential areas , both located on the Elzbach, belong to Kollig .

history

The area has probably been inhabited for a much longer period of time, as stone-age finds have been secured alongside Roman traces. Kollig was first mentioned in a lease in 1279. The Stuben nunnery, as well as the Engelport , Rosenthal , Springiersbach , Kamp and Münstermaifelder Stift monasteries were wealthy locally.

The patron saint of the church, first mentioned in 1678, is Saint Willibrord .

Municipal council

The local council in Kollig consists of twelve council members, who were elected in the local elections on May 26, 2019 in a personalized proportional representation, and the honorary local mayor as chairman. The twelve seats in the municipal council are divided between two groups of voters . Until 2014, the council had eight councilors.

Robert Ollig became the mayor of Kollig in 2009. In the direct election on May 26, 2019, he was confirmed in his office for another five years with a share of 84.08% of the votes.
