After 1792 French French revolutionary troops had taken the so-called Left Bank of the Rhine . After the introduction of the French administrative structures, Herresbach belonged to the canton of Virneburg in the Rhine-Moselle department from 1798 to 1814 . Due to the agreements made at the Congress of Vienna (1815), the region came under the Kingdom of Prussia . Herresbach belonged to the mayor's office of Virneburg in the district of Adenau, which was established in 1816 in the Koblenz administrative district, and from 1822 to the Rhine province . It is believed that Herresbach was built near an old Roman settlement.
