Gierschnach is a municipality in the Mayen-Koblenz district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Maifeld Association , which has its administrative headquarters in the city of Polch .
geography
The place is northwest of Münstermaifeld on the road to Gappenach . The village of Gierschnach has won several prizes in the competition “ Our village should be more beautiful ”.
history
Gierschnach was first mentioned in a document as Girsnack in 1208 , when Sayn Abbey reported ownership there. In 1224 the Marienberg ( Boppard ) monastery was also wealthy there. In 1563 the village included eight fireplaces under the name Girschnach 16 and 1684 . Wonderfully country they belonged to the late 18th century to the Electorate of Trier and the administration was under the Office Münster-Maienfeld . Gierschnach, formerly also called Girschenach , was the seat of a Heimburger in the Münster-Maienfeld High Court .
