Rüber is a municipality in the Mayen-Koblenz district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Maifeld Association , which has its administrative headquarters in the city of Polch .

geography

Rüber is about five kilometers east of Polch on a ridge sloping from northwest to southeast and southwest to the Polcher Bach . The locality covers altitudes between 180 m above sea level. NHN and 150 m above sea level NHN . In terms of nature , the municipality is divided into two parts: the northern half can be assigned to the Niedermaifelder Höhe , the southern half with the main town of the Niedermaifelder Senke . A smaller part of the nature reserve wetlands in the Nothbachtal is located on the southern border of the municipality . The Schäfersmühle and Fraid residential areas belong to Rüber .

Rüber borders (clockwise) on the local communities of Kerben , Lonnig , Kobern-Gondorf , Kalt , the city of Münstermaifeld , the local community of Gappenach and the city of Polch.

history

Rüber is first mentioned in 964 as Ruveris . In 1563 the village had 26 fireplaces under the name Rüweren and 27 in 1683 . Wonderfully country they belonged to the late 18th century to the Electorate of Trier and the administration was under the Office Münster-Maienfeld . Over was the seat of a Heimburger in the High Court of Münster-Maienfeld.

Municipal council

The municipal council in Rüber consists of twelve council members, who were elected by a majority vote in the local elections on May 26, 2019 , and the honorary local mayor as chairman.

Karin Butter became the local mayor of Rüber in 2014. In the direct election on May 26, 2019, she was confirmed in her office for another five years with a share of the vote of 65.31%.

Filial church St. Margaretha

The Catholic branch church of St. Margaretha (Lonnig parish; built in 1909/10 by Wilhelm Hector from Saarbrücken ) is a neo-Gothic hall made of red-brown Krotzen masonry (foam lava).

Backes

The old bakery from 1826, renovated in 1979, is a listed building . Here, until 1955, bread was baked according to Oberdorf and Unterdorf.

Since 1991 the bakery has been used once or twice a year on special occasions.
