Virneburg mayor's office
The mayor's office Virneburg was one of five, later six, Prussian mayor's offices into which the district of Adenau, formed in 1816 in the Koblenz administrative district (then "Coblenz administrative district") was administratively divided. From 1822 the administrative district of Koblenz, including the mayor of Virneburg, belonged to the Rhine province that was newly formed that year . 17 municipalities were under the administration of the mayor's office .
In 1927 the mayor's office in Virneburg was renamed to Amt Virneburg . After the Adenau district was dissolved in 1932, the Virneburg office came to the Mayen district . In 1934 the Virneburg office was also dissolved. Nine parishes came to the Mayen Land Office, seven parishes to the Kelberg Office .

history
The majority of the communities in the mayor's district of Virneburg belonged to the county of Virneburg until the end of the 18th century . In 1794, French revolutionary armies occupied the left bank of the Rhine . Under French administration, the area belonged to the arrondissement of Bonn ( canton Virneburg ), which was assigned to the Rhine-Moselle department .
Virneburg mayor's office
Based on the resolutions at the Congress of Vienna in 1815, the Rhineland was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia . Under the Prussian administration, administrative districts , districts and mayor's offices as well as associated communities were formed in 1816 . The mayor's office in Virneburg belonged to the Adenau district in the Coblenz administrative district and from 1822 to the then newly formed Rhine province . The territorial status and the municipality allocation remained unchanged in the following 110 years.
Virneburg office
Like all the mayor's offices in the Rhine Province, the Virneburg mayor's office was renamed "Amt Virneburg" in 1927.
Due to the "Ordinance on the reorganization of the districts" of August 1, 1932, the Adenau district was dissolved on September 30, 1932. The Virneburg office was assigned to the Mayen district .
On March 21, 1934 the Virneburg office was dissolved. Nine parishes came to the Mayen Land Office , seven parishes to the Kelberg Office . From the Mayen-Land office, the Mayen-Land Association was created on October 1, 1968, and was renamed the Vordereifel Association on January 1, 2002 .

After the "Topographic-statistical description of the Royal Prussian Rhine Province" from 1830 belonged to the mayor of Virneburg spots Virneburg, ten villages, 13 hamlets , five individually standing yards and two mills. In 1817 a total of 2,850 inhabitants were counted; In 1828 there were 3,310 inhabitants, including 1,586 men and 1,724 women; 3,303 of the inhabitants belonged to the Catholic and 7 to the Protestant faith.
Further details are taken from the "Community encyclopedia for the Kingdom of Prussia" from 1888, which is based on the results of the census of December 1, 1885. In the administrative area of the mayor's office Virneburg a total of 3,287 inhabitants lived in 710 houses and 712 households; 1,651 of the population were male and 1,666 female. Regarding religious affiliation, 3,283 were Catholic and 4 were Protestant.
In 1885 the total area of the municipalities belonging to the mayor's office was 8,441 hectares , of which 2,699 hectares were arable land, 653 hectares of meadows and 2,825 hectares of forest.
