BeeZero was a car sharing service operated by Linde Hydrogen Concepts GmbH based in Pullach in the Isar valley since 2016 . For the first time in the world, only hydrogen fueled fuel cell vehicles (FCEV) were used for the zone-based system . The offer was discontinued on June 30, 2018.

history

The Linde Hydrogen Concepts GmbH (LHC) was established in December 2015 of Linde AG based in Munich. On April 7, 2016, the company started the world's first operation of a car sharing system with hydrogen cars under the brand name BeeZero in Munich. For this purpose, 50 hydrogen-powered Hyundai ix35 FCEVs were purchased. On March 9, 2018, BeeZero announced that it would cease its activities on July 1, 2018. The reason given was that the offer was not economically viable in the long term.

Hyundai ix35 Fuel Cell

BeeZero was a zone-based car sharing in which the vehicles were distributed to specific parking zones within the city. A car that was rented in a certain parking zone must also be returned in this parking zone. The fuel cell technology used enables the emission-free operation of the Hyundai ix35 Fuel Cell, for which Beezero specified a range of 400 km , by directly converting hydrogen into electrical energy . The fill level and the range of each vehicle were displayed via the app and on the homepage. The customers could not refuel themselves, the vehicles were filled by employees. The hydrogen required came from the parent company Linde, a manufacturer of technical gases .

Only Hyundai ix35 SUVs were available . In order to be able to take advantage of the offer, a registration fee was paid. As with other systems, booking was made online or via a mobile phone app. Use was billed by hours and / or kilometers. In addition, various all-inclusive packages were offered. BeeZero's prices were on par with other providers such as DriveNow , Car2go and Sixt .
