The Begatal nature reserve is located in the municipality of Dörentrup and the towns of Barntrup and Lemgo in the Lippe district in North Rhine-Westphalia .
The area, which consists of four sub-areas, extends east of the core town of Lemgo via Dörentrup and Barntrup along the Bega , a right tributary of the Werre .
