The biotope complex at the Mühlenturm is a nature reserve designated in 2007 by the Detmold regional council (NSG number LIP-072) in the northeast of the North Rhine-Westphalian town of Barntrup in the Lippe district in Germany .

location

The approximately nine hectare biotope complex at the Mühlenturm nature reserve is located in the Teutoburg Forest / Eggegebirge nature park . It extends northeast of the Barntrup city center between the hamlet of Herborn in the west and the districts of Sonneborn in the east and Bellenbruch in the southwest.

description

The protected area Biotopekomplex am Mühlenturm is described as a diverse biotope complex of field trees, shrubbery, abandoned quarry with limestone grassland and grassland richly structured by hedges on a flat hilltop, the surroundings of which are characterized by arable land, but also have structured woody structures.

The biotope complex on the mill tower provides with its various structures an important Refugial- and stepping stone habitat is in the predominantly arable area.

Protection purpose

The main protection purpose is the preservation and optimization of a diverse biotope complex made up of lime grasslands, field trees, lean grassland and hedges as a refuge and stepping stone biotope in the predominantly arable environment.

In the protected area biotope complex at the Mühlenturm , the biotope types "field trees from native tree species", "fat meadow", "bushes / shrub groups", "grassland fallow land", "hedge", "limestone semi-dry grassland / calcareous grassland", "limestone quarry" and "poor meadow" are described.
