The hairy two-toothed tooth ( Bidens pilosus ) is a species of plant in the sunflower family (Asteraceae).
description
The hairy bizarre grows as an annual herbaceous plant and reaches a stature height of 10 to 80 cm. The stem is erect and hairy. The leaves are threefold with pointed ovate, serrated, hairy leaflets.
The flower heads have a diameter of 5 to 15 mm and consist of yellow tubular flowers and white or yellowish ray flowers . The outer bracts are green, spatulate and ciliate on the edge. They become almost as long as the skin-fringed inner bracts. The flowering period extends from April to September.
The achenes are linear and black with 2 to 3 backward curved awns .
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 48 or 72.
distribution
The species is native to South America, but has been displaced and is spreading. It can already be found in the Azores , Canaries , Madeira , Cape Verde , on the Ilhas Selvagens and in the Mediterranean area . Moist roadsides, wasteland and ditches are preferred as locations.
