Bektas (* 1975 in Turkey as Bektaş Turhan ) is a Berlin rapper .

Life

Bektas moved to Germany with his family at the age of one and grew up in Berlin-Reinickendorf . He studied political science and, in addition to his work as a musician, works in home nursing .

In the early 1990s he trained his skills as an MC on various hip-hop jams in open mic sessions . He moderated together with Erci at the Berlin radio station Kiss FM in its early days. Through Erci the connection to the Cartel and later the collaboration with Peter Maffay came about.

Bektas released his first independent CD with Ali's in Wonderland (2005). The program of this album, the rapper also appeared in the music and event series Mein Block - Representative, assertiveness and fighting among young migrants from Murat Güngör on. His subjects, which Bektas processes metaphorically , come from the street.

Together with Sirtlan , Bektas also released an album completely in Turkish: Satırlarımıza Başlamadan (2006), which was produced in No5 Production / Altinparmak Records by Aksit Ugurlu , is the title of the CD of the in this context as Bektas ve Sirtlan (Eng.Bektas and Sirtlan) performing pop duo. In terms of music style, this album can be assigned to Turkish or Oriental Hip-Hop .

Otherwise, Bektas can often be heard on productions by other artists. So far he has worked z. B. with Cartel, RZA , Mystikal , Die Sekte , Plattenpapzt , DJ Friction and AnAlphaBeten as well as with Peter Maffay (with whom he also toured together). Bektas was also a guest at the Jazzkantine and rapped for the canteen album Unlimited Durable together with Tachiles , whom he once called his role model.
