The siege of Groenlo by Spanish troops under the command of Ambrosio Spinola took place from August 3rd to 14th, 1606 during the Eighty Years War and ended with the conquest of the city.
A few months later, Prince Moritz of Orange tried to retake the city, but failed due to poor planning and an intervention by Spinola. Groenlo remained in Spanish hands until another siege in 1627 .
