Belgrade is a city in Gallatin County in the state of Montana in the United States .

The city is located northeast of the geographic center of the county in southwest Montana, about 20 kilometers from Bozeman , the seat of the county government.

The town was incorporated into the county government in July 1881 by Thomas B. Quaw, a businessman. At this point there was a siding on the Northern Pacific Railway . The name is the English spelling of Belgrade , the capital of Serbia, and was a tribute to Serbian business people who financed part of the Northern Pacific Railway. In 1906 the city got its own administration. Next to the city is the small Gallatin Field airport .

The Belgrade Special Events Center is a multi-purpose hall built in 1996 with 4,800 seats. It is used by various sports teams in Belgrade and the surrounding area. As the largest hall in the area, larger competitions of the entire county are held in it.

The Gallatin Speedway race track is northeast of the airport. The oval is used for stock car races between May and September.

The Belgrade Autumn Festival has been a tradition since 1960 and is celebrated on the third weekend in September. In addition to a parade, various activities such as a barbecue, art exhibitions and sports competitions are offered.
