Belly is an American rock band from Boston formed in 1991 by Tanya Donelly and Fred Abong.
Career
Donelly chose the name "Belly" because the word is both "beautiful and ugly". The first album Star was awarded gold in the USA. The single Feed the Tree , which was released from this album, made it into the Top 40 in Great Britain. The album was also nominated for two Grammys . The follow-up album King was unable to build on these successes . The band broke up in 1996 as Donelly devoted herself to her solo career.
In 2016, the reunification took place with all four members who were part of the band when it broke up. After a tour, Belly went into the studio and Dove was released in 2018 - the first album in 23 years. The work was financed via crowdfunding on the PledgeMusic platform.
