The Río Bembézar is a 126 km long right (northern) tributary of the Guadalquivir in southern Spain .

geography

The Bembézar rises near the town of Azuaga in the Badajoz province . It flows in numerous loops in a south-easterly direction. In the neighboring province of Cordoba it is dammed and flows east past the village of Hornachuelos . Finally it flows only in a southerly direction and unites approx. 6 km south of the castle of Moratalla, built in the 19th century, with the Guadalquivir.

Tributaries

Numerous streams (arroyos) flow into the Río Bembézar; the only notable tributary is the Río Sotillo .

In its course, the Río Bembézar crosses the Sierra de Hornachuelos National Park .
