Ben Tatar

Ben Tatar (actually Beniamino Taraini ; born January 23, 1930 in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania , † November 29, 2012 in Shadyside , Pennsylvania) was an American actor .

Life

Tatar served in the US Army during the Korean War ; he graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in English and Presentation. He then moved to New York City , where he quickly found his first roles in television. An intensive artistic collaboration took place with comedian Jackie Gleason , as his personal assistant he acted and in whose television programs and films he completed appearances. In the 1960s Tatar moved to Spain for a few years (he spoke the national language fluently, as well as French, Italian and German) and worked intensively as a dubbing director in various language versions . He was repeatedly seen on the screen in small roles from productions filmed on the Iberian Peninsula.

In 1981 - he lived in New York again for a few years - Tatar went back to his hometown, where he played on local stages. In the last years of his life he found a continuation of his film career in horror films made on a tight budget.
