content
The city of Limerick is controlled by Bear Bullock and his pistolero killer Kossick, who run a terrible regime. After a number of hired shooters fail to break the terror, the gentle Meriwether P. Newberry comes to town who invented a shooting robot called the "Bang Bang Kid". With the help of this tin man, the townspeople want to break the medieval rule of Bullock, who also had a castle imported from Europe to live on. Unfortunately, the robot fails shortly before the final showdown, whereupon Newberry dresses like the robot and goes to the duel alone. This behavior shows the townspeople their cowardice, which they now overcome. All together drive Bullock and his people out of the area.
criticism
"Moderately entertaining western parody, especially the short scenes in which elements of the knight film are inserted, are disturbing."
"The script of the film is pretty deadly. [...] A mess."
Others
- Christian Keßler notes that the opening scenes with the pistoleros as well as the scenes with priest Umberto Raho were re-shot because the running time of the film was too short until then.
