He was the son of the Eppinger farmer Konrad Doll (* September 20, 1860; † April 10, 1925) and Friederike, born Gebhard (* November 9, 1866, † December 15, 1930) from Gemmingen . There are three children from this marriage: Horst Rudolf (born April 4, 1932 in Karlsruhe ), Erdmute Friederike Katharina (born February 23, 1934 in Karlsruhe) and Wolfgang (born July 22, 1935 in Karlsruhe).

education

Karl Doll attended elementary school and then secondary school in Eppingen and switched to secondary school in Mannheim . In 1924 he passed the high school diploma in Heilbronn . From 1925 he studied at the Mannheim Commercial College, where after six semesters he passed the examination to become a business graduate and after another three semesters the state examination. He then worked as a commercial school trainee and as a commercial school assessor. Because the state was not hiring young teachers at the time, he took a job as an accountant at the grain warehouse in Eppingen .

time of the nationalsocialism

Karl Doll had been a member of the NSDAP since 1930 with membership number 357.046. From 1930 to 1936 he was the local group leader of the NSDAP local group in Eppingen. He signed the application to make Adolf Hitler an honorary citizen of Eppingen .

Declaration by Albert Wirth (Mayor of Eppingen from 1903 to 1933): On March 23, 1933, at around 8 a.m. coming from Bahnhofstrasse, I saw that there were around 3-400 people standing on the sidewalks in a semicircle around the market square. I walked unhindered to the town hall. When I got to my office, I heard that strangers were initially speaking to me in the adjoining room of the council clerk. After a short time the future mayors Doll and Zutavern came to me. Zutavern said to me that I could see that the community wanted my resignation, I would like to come to the telephone, the district administrator wants to speak to me. District Administrator Strack pointed out the march of the 3-400 people and also said that this meant that my resignation was desired and required. I refused the voluntary resignation, remarking that I would only give way to compulsion and that the district administrator knew that two years earlier I had already taken steps to retire out of health considerations. I emphasized that there was no need for this whipped up event. In the course of the conversation, Mr. District Administrator put me on leave until further notice, and Doll was appointed acting mayor. Doll then spoke a few words from the balcony in a matter-of-fact, calm way, the crowd roared and got lost. (written on September 6, 1947; GLA see sources)

Karl Doll held the position of mayor in Eppingen until he became mayor of Oberkirch (Baden) in November 1936 .
