José María Caffarel
José María Caffarel (real. Josep María Caffarel i Fàbregas ; born November 10, 1919 in Barcelona , † November 8, 1999 in Madrid ) was a Spanish actor .
Life
Caffarel grew up in the region between San Sebastián and the French border (in Donosti ) and initially studied engineering , which he had to abandon due to the Spanish Civil War .
After the war he began acting and soon became a member of Adolfo Marsillach's theater troupe . The slightly stocky, often bespectacled Caffarel made his screen debut in 1956 in the film El ultimo cuplé by Juan de Orduña and continued this career in over 220 roles until his death; on television since 1962.
In 1962 he settled in Madrid, where the multilingual actor became an institution not only in Spanish films as a petty crook or fearful employee. His filmography includes around 250 entries. He was also active as a voice actor.
In 1960 he won the award for the best actor in the film Muerte al amanecer . Caffarel died shortly before his 80th birthday and is buried in the Cementerio de la Almudena .
