The Ben Vorlich is a 943 meter high mountain in Scotland . Its Gaelic name roughly means mountain or hill of the bay . The mountain is the northernmost elevation of the Arrochar Alps . This group of mountains lies between the north end of Loch Long and the west bank of Loch Lomond in the southern Highlands in Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park . From the main group of the Arrochar Alps with the Ben Arthur , the Beinn Ìme and the Ben Vane , the Ben Vorlich is separated by Loch Sloy and the Inveruglas Water, which drains this reservoir . Towering over the west bank of Loch Lomond, Ben Vorlich is classified as Munro .

View from the summit of Ben Vorlich to the south, below the mountain is Loch Sloy
The trigonometric point on the southern summit of Ben Vorlich, which is two meters lower than the highest point.

Between Loch Sloy and Loch Lomond, the Ben Vorlich forms a long, north-south-running mountain range with three peaks, the southern one being marked with a trigonometric point , but at 941 meters two meters lower than the main peak in the middle is. The northern summit is slightly lower at 931 meters. While the mountain drops steeply towards Loch Sloy, the west side forms a hilly and rocky wide ridge that slopes down to the steep banks of Loch Lomond, which is known as Little Hills . Pressure pipes run through the mountain and carry the water that has built up in Loch Sloy to the Sloy Power Station , which is located at the foot of Ben Vorlich on the banks of Loch Lomond. The West Highland Line and the A82 also run along the narrow shoreline .

There are boarding options both from the south, starting from the Sloy Power Station through the valley of Inveruglas Water, and from the north towards the small town of Ardlui on the West Highland Line through a valley south of the station. Another ascent leads from the settlement of Ardvorlich on the banks of Loch Lomond to the west over the Little Hills to the summit.
