Ben Zweig (born November 2, 1992 in Randolph (New Jersey) ) is an American modern jazz musician ( drums ) .

Zweig began playing drums at the age of five; in addition, he began to play trumpet and music from Trinidad on steel drums . He initially had classical training with Kenneth Piascik and was then percussionist in the All-Eastern Orchestra of the National Association for Music Education and first percussionist in the MENC All-National Concert Band . In 2011 he received the NJ Governor's Award in Jazz Excellence . In the same year he moved to New York City and continued his education at the Manhattan School of Music , where he also obtained a master's degree after completing his Bachelor in 2017.

Since graduating, he has worked in the local jazz scene with musicians such as Randy Weston , Johnny O'Neal , Larry Ridley , David Williams , Roy Hargrove , Deborah Davis , Arturo O'Farrill , Joel Press , Joe Magnarelli , Cecil Bridgewater and Steve Nelson . Recordings have since been made with Jerry Dodgion , Joe Cohn , Champian Fulton ( Speechless , Posi-Tone , 2017), and the Ben Rosenblum Coastal Trio ( River City (2018), with Kanoa Mendenhall). He currently appears regularly at Cleopatra's Needle and the Smalls Jazz Club with his own trio. Down Beat magazine described his drumming as "particularly crisp and articulate".
