Life

Juliana came from a Scandinavian noble family who came to Estonia with the Swedes in 1632 and was included in the register of the Estonian knighthood there in 1752 . She was the daughter of the judge and heir of Hördel, Pergel and Rettel Friedrich Wilhelm von Baggehufwudt (1726–1785) and Charlotta Eleonora, née. von Rosenthal from the house of Pergel (1743–1768). General Karl Gustav von Baggehufwudt (1761–1812) was her brother.

Her marriage to the Russian Colonel Friedrich von Adlerberg (1738–1894) resulted in a daughter and a son:

Juliana was recommended to the imperial court as a destitute widow and as a result she was one of the tutors of Prince Nicholas from 1797 . She was considered an excellent educator and, following the recommendation of Princess Lieven, headed the Imperial Educational Society for noble women from 1802 onwards . In 1824 she was honored with the Order of St. Catherine, Second Class, and First Class in 1835.
