Bendito Freitas (2015)

Bendito dos Santos Freitas (born December 10, 1963 ) is a diplomat and politician from East Timor . He is a member of the Congresso Nacional da Reconstrução Timorense (CNRT) party. From 2007 to 2015 he was a member of the government.

Career

From 1987 to 1993 he was at the Institute of Philosophy and Theology Widya Sasana in Malang, Indonesia . Here he received a diploma in literature. From 1999, Freitas was at Lancaster University , where he received a Masters in International Relations and Strategic Studies in the Department of Politics and International Relations in 2000 .

To restore East Timor's independence in 2002, Freitas was chairman of the UNESCO national commission .

In the fourth constitutional government of East Timor , Freitas was made Secretary of State for Professional Development in August 2007. In the fifth government , from August 8, 2012, Freitas was Minister of Education . With the government reshuffle on February 16, 2015, he lost his office.

On November 19, 2015, Freitas was appointed East Timor's new Ambassador to the People's Republic of China , succeeding Vicky Tchong . The accreditation took place on February 29, 2016. He held the office until 2020.

In 2017, Freitas was elected a deputy chairman of the CNRT at the party congress.
