Fernando Hanjam (born September 23 ) is a university professor and politician from East Timor . It comes from the Oe-Cusse Ambeno exclave . Hanjam was formerly a member of the Partidu Libertasaun Popular (PLP), but then switched to FRETILIN .

Career

Hanjam studied management at the Indonesian Christian University Satya Wacana ( Indonesian Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana , UKSW) in Salatiga from 2004 to 2006 and at the Universitas Sanata Dharma from 1996 to 2000 in Yogyakarta .

Since 2000 Hanjam has been a lecturer at the Universidade Nasionál Timór Lorosa'e (UNTL). Here he was, after all, vice-rector and lecturer at the business faculty.

From 2011 to 2016, Hanjam studied at the same time at the Portuguese University of Aveiro , where he received a doctorate in accounting and finance.

In 2012, Hanjam was under discussion as State Secretary for Oe-Cusse Ambeno in the fifth government under Xanana Gusmão . The office was then not filled.

Hanjam was appointed Minister of Education and Culture on September 29, 2017 and sworn in on October 3. The PLP was not involved in the government, which is why Hanjam switched to FRETILIN. Hanjam's term of office ended when the Eighth Government of East Timor took office on June 22, 2018. With the admission of FRETILIN into the Eighth Government, Hanjam was sworn in as the new Minister of Finance on May 29.
