André and Benedikt Bugner
André Bugner (born October 8, 1994 ) and Benedikt Bugner (born August 4, 1996 ) have been part of a German art bike team since 2008 . The two brothers start for the RSV 1921 Klein-Winternheim and are four-time world champions in 2-man art driving in the open class (2013-2016).
Sporty vita
They achieved their first major international success in 2011 at the junior indoor cycling European championship in Höchst ( Austria ) when they won the European championship. In 2011 they also won the German Junior Championships in Duderstadt , the Junior Masters, and set a new junior world record with 146.60 points in the 2-person junior open class.
In the following year, the two athletes repeated winning the European Junior Championship in Ghent ( Belgium ) and defended their German championship title and winning the Junior Masters series. The brothers also managed to increase the junior world record to 153.45 points and set a German record with 162.25 points.
André and Benedikt Bugner have been competing in the elite class since 2013. At the indoor cycling world championships in 2013 in Basel ( Switzerland ), the brothers won their first world championship. In addition, the two were able to win the German Masters and secure the German championship title in Baunatal . In addition, they set four new world records and were voted Team of the Year 2013 of the RLP State Sports Association.
In 2014 the brothers defended their world title in the 2-man art cycling elite open class in Brno ( Czech Republic ). They reached first place at the German Championships in Denkendorf and also finished the German Masters in first place. The world record was increased to 166.20 points.
In 2015 the athletes won their third world championship in Johor Bahru ( Malaysia ). In Moers they defended their German championship title and also won the German Masters series as well as the UCI Ranking 2015. With 167.40 points, the two people from Klein-Winternheim set a new world record.
In addition, they were awarded the sports badge of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate as "Sportsman of the Year" and voted Team of the Year by the State Sports Association RLP.
For the fourth time in a row, the brothers won the world championship title in open class two in Stuttgart in 2016 .
At the indoor cycling world championships in 2017 , they won the silver medal in November 2017. In April 2018, Benedikt Bugner sustained an ankle injury in a friendship competition.
