Benedikt Loderer (* 1945 in Bern ) is a Swiss architect and journalist . As a journalist he writes for the magazine Hochparterre , which he founded in 1988.

Life

Loderer gained after a draftsman teaching the Matura on the night school and studied architecture at the ETH Zurich . He then worked as a university assistant , television volunteer and employed architect. Then he began to write for newspapers and worked as a freelance journalist for several years , especially as a city ​​hiker and architecture critic for the Tages-Anzeiger . In 1981 he did his doctorate with Paul Hofer at the ETH Zurich with the dissertation “The interior of the exterior is the exterior of the interior. Definition of the term “urban space” ” . Between 1980 and 1986 he wrote three radio plays and one TV piece and was part-time editor of the architecture magazine “aktuelles build” .

In 1988, at Curti Medien AG, he initiated the establishment of the Hochparterre magazine for architecture and design , of which he became editor-in-chief . In the summer of 1991, the Hochparterre became an editorial company, and the magazine has belonged to its makers ever since. In May 1997 he resigned as editor-in-chief and became an editor and city ​​hiker with no management responsibility at Hochparterre. In 2010 he retired.

Loderer now lives in Biel and works as a freelance journalist. In 2012 his book Die Landesverteidigung was published in the Hochparterre edition, in which he denounced the urban sprawl in Switzerland and called for a new land law. Since September 2017, he has represented the Greens of Biel in the city parliament as the successor to Andreas Bösch .

In 2018 he was awarded the Cultural Mediation Prize by the Canton of Bern.
