Benjamin Appel (musician)

Benjamin Appel (* 1977 in Kaiserslautern ) is a German trombonist and music teacher .

Life

Appel began learning to play the trombone at the age of 11 . After success in the Jugend musiziert competition , he studied with Martin Göss and Lothar Schmitt in Würzburg from 1996 .

This was followed by engagements with the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie and as a bass and double bass trombonist at the Nuremberg State Opera (2002–2006). Since September 2006 he has been the bass and double bass trombonist with the Munich Philharmonic .

Since 2007 Appel has been a member of the Blechschaden brass ensemble , a brass ensemble made up of members of the Munich Philharmonic.

He also gives concerts, mainly in southern Germany, in changing ensembles or as a soloist, etc. a. at the world premiere of the Capriccietti by Johannes X. Schachtner or as solo trombonist in Bruckner's Aequale for 3 trombones.

He is a lecturer for bass and double bass trombone at the University of Music and Theater in Munich , he teaches at the Tyrolean State Conservatory and he teaches at the orchestra academy of the Munich Philharmonic.
