Benjamin Friedrich Schmieder

Benjamin Friedrich Schmieder (born February 19, 1736 in Leipzig , † February 28, 1813 in Halle (Saale) ) was a German philologist and schoolboy .

Life

Schmieder learned at the Thomasschule in Leipzig and studied theology and philology at the University of Leipzig . In 1765 he became Tertius and in 1771 vice-principal at the Martin-Luther-Gymnasium Eisleben . From 1780 to 1808 he was rector of the municipal high school in Halle and later a teacher at the Latina .

Schmieder is the father of the philologist Friedrich Gotthelf Benjamin Schmieder (1770–1838).
