Benjamin Goodrich
Benjamin Franklin Goodrich (born November 4, 1841 in Ripley , New York , † August 3, 1888 in Akron , Ohio ) was an American industrialist in the rubber industry and founder of the Goodrich Corporation .
Childhood and youth
Benjamin Franklin Goodrich (called BF ) was the son of Anson and Susan Goodrich. He trained as a physician and received his doctorate from Western Reserve University in Cleveland , Ohio .
Professional activities
During the American Civil War , BF served as a surgeon on the Unionist side . After the war ended, BF reached a licensing agreement with Charles Goodyear , and with his business partner JP Morris acquired the Hudson Rubber Company in Melrose , New York . In 1870 BF moved to Akron , Ohio, and founded BF Goodrich there, which developed into a major company in the tire industry. So was z. B. the radial tire designed by a company employee.
