Benjamin Henrichs (critic)
Benjamin Henrichs (* 1946 in Stuttgart ) is a German theater and literary critic as well as the author of essays .
Live and act
The son of the director and theater manager Helmut Henrichs grew up in Munich , where he also studied. From 1969 he wrote theater reviews for the Süddeutsche Zeitung and Theater heute .
Henrichs has been the features editor of the Hamburg weekly newspaper Die Zeit since 1973 , where he has become a leading critic over the years. Due to differences with his then new head of department Sigrid Löffler , he resigned there in 1997. In 1998 he returned to the Süddeutsche Zeitung as the author of the Berlin editorial team. Henrichs has been retired since 2011 .
Awards
- In 1986 he received the Salzburg Critics' Prize for his review of the 1985 world premiere of the play Der Theatermacher at the Burgtheater in Vienna .
- Austrian State Prize for Cultural Journalism (1989)
- Johann Heinrich Merck Prize for Literary Criticism (1992)
