Benjamin M. Rosen

Benjamin M. Rosen (born March 11, 1933 in New Orleans , Louisiana ) is an American investor. He was President and CEO of Compaq and a co-founder of the Sevin Rosen Funds .

Career

Benjamin M. Rosen is of Jewish origin, his father Isadore was a dentist, his mother Anna Rosen a secretary. In 1954 he received his Bachelor of Science from the California Institute of Technology and in 1955 his Master of Science from Stanford University . He earned a Masters of Business Administration from Columbia Business School in 1961 . He then worked for 15 years on Wall Street , where he ended his career as Senior Technology Analyst and Vice President of Morgan Stanley .

In 1981 he founded the venture capital firm Sevin Rosen Funds with Leonce John Sevin . With that he invested in Compaq in the same year and served the company as president for 18 years. He was also CEO of this company for four months in 1999. He financially supported many high-tech start-ups such as Electronic Arts , Lotus Development and Silicon Graphics .

He has two sons with his wife, Donna Perret Rosen: Jeffrey and Eric Rosen.
