Benjamin Potzerne

Benjamin Potzerne , also Pozerne (born April 25, 1665 in Stettin , † February 2, 1699 in Greifswald ) was a German professor of logic and metaphysics.

Life

Benjamin Potzerne was born in 1665 in the Pomeranian Stettin, the son of the royal lock and customs inspector Daniel Potzerne. He studied first in his hometown and then until 1685 in Lübeck . He then completed a degree in theology at the University of Wittenberg and in 1687 received a master's degree in philosophy. After stays in Leipzig, Helmstedt and Hamburg, he went to the University of Kiel , where he defended two disputations , and then to the University of Rinteln . In 1691 he was appointed professor at the University of Greifswald . In 1696 Potzerne was elected rector and librarian of the University of Greifswald. He died unmarried in 1699 at the age of 33.
