Benjamin de Rothschild (born July 30, 1963 in Neuilly-sur-Seine , France , † January 15, 2021 in Pregny , Switzerland ) was a French banker and investor from one of the French branches of the Rothschild family .

Life

Benjamin de Rothschild was born in 1963 to the banker Edmond Adolphe de Rothschild (1926–1997) and the actress and author Nadine, née Tallier . In Lancy in the canton of Geneva , he attended the Florimont Institute and then studied economics at Pepperdine University in Malibu . After the death of his father, he became chairman of the Banque Privée Edmond de Rothschild (later the Edmond de Rothschild Group) and president of the Banca Privata Edmond de Rothschild Lugano ; He also took over the family's wineries and expanded them internationally through acquisitions. In 1999 he marriedAriane Langner , the couple had four children and lived at Pregny Castle near Geneva in Switzerland. In 2015, Ariane de Rothschild became CEO of the Edmond de Rothschild Group.

Rothschild was an avid sailor; he financed his own sailing team, the Gitana team .

He died on January 15, 2021 at the age of 57 of a heart attack at his castle in Pregny near Geneva.
