Benno Zierer (politician, 1934)

Benno Zierer (born March 24, 1934 in Lintach , District Office Amberg ) is a former German politician ( CSU ).

After graduating from a humanistic grammar school, he graduated from the Bavarian civil service college. He then worked for the municipal administration of the city of Regensburg .

In 1960 Zierer joined the Junge Union and the CSU and was then chairman of the Upper Palatinate district association .

From 1970 to 1982 Zierer was a member of the Upper Palatinate District Assembly, where he was a consultant for cultural affairs. In 1972 he also sat briefly in the Regensburg district council. From 1980 to 2002 he finally sat in the German Bundestag . As a directly elected member, he represented the Regensburg constituency .

Honors

Benno Zierer received several awards for his achievements, including the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class and in 2011 the CSU's diamond of honor in gold. He is an honorary member of the Oberpfälzer Kulturbund . In 2015 he received the monument protection medal for the rescue of Alteglofsheim Castle .
