Faouzi Benzarti ( Arabic فوزي البنزرتي) (Born January 3, 1950 in Monastir , Tunisia ) is a former Tunisian football player and current football coach .

In 2013, shortly before the start of the FIFA Club World Cup , he took over the Moroccan football club Raja Casablanca . Under his leadership, the club surprisingly reached the final, which was lost 2-0 to Bayern Munich .

Career

Faouzi Benzarti spent his entire active football career in his youth club, the US Monastir .

Trainer

In 1977 Benzarti received his coaching license and a year later made his coaching debut at the third division club olympique de Sidi Bouzid. 1979 Benzarti returned as a coach to his old club US Monastir. The club relegated to the Tunisian second division a year earlier. Under his leadership, the team managed to return to the Tunisian first division in 1980.

He later led all of the top Tunisian teams with which he won many national and international titles.

In the summer of 2018, Benzarti was appointed team boss of the Tunisian national team . Just three months later, however, he was released again, although all three games were won under his leadership. The association gave no reason for the separation.

In the election to the Constituent Assembly of Tunisia in 2011, Benzarti kept an independent list. The entry into the assembly was not made, however. In the parliamentary elections in Tunisia in 2014, Benzarti decided not to run again.
