Beppo Küster

Beppo Küster (* 1950 in Flensburg ) is a German pop singer , actor and presenter who gained greater prominence in the GDR , especially in the 1980s .

Life

Beppo Küster grew up in Cottbus . Here he received violin lessons from his father from 1961. In 1968 he began studying mathematics and chemistry at the Köthen University of Education . From 1972 to 1975 he worked as a teacher in Cottbus, but was dismissed from school due to disagreements with the school management.

In 1977 he was approved as an entertainer and from then on worked as a musical humorist . In 1979 he made his television debut with an appearance on the show There is music in it . His first success as a pop singer came in 1983 with the humorous song Absolute Stille , which became an instant hit. He hosted his first own television program called Beppos Partyshow in 1985. Highlights of his television career were two presentations of the big Saturday evening show Ein Kessel Buntes in 1986 and 1989.

Since 1990 he has been working as a freelance TV producer and has written and moderated various radio and television programs for the ORB , Puls-TV and FAB channels, among others .

In April 2019 he attracted attention when he hanged himself on a gallows in front of the Dresden Frauenkirche as an example of advocacy for euthanasia.

Küster lives in Grünheide near Berlin.
