Berg is a village in the Bergisch metropolis of Wuppertal .

Location and description

Berg is located in the east of the Sudberg residential area in the Cronenberg district at an altitude of 130 to 160  m above sea level. NHN in the Morsbachtal on the city limits to Remscheid formed by the river .

Neighboring towns are Heidt and Häusgen on the ridge to the west and Aue ( near Remscheid) in the valley. There are numerous half-timbered houses in the village .

State road 216, which here bears the name Morsbachtalstraße , runs in the valley .

In addition to other hiking trails , the Bergische Weg ( SGV main hiking route X29) and the Morsbach adventure trail set up as part of the Regionale 2006 run through the village.

history

The place goes back to the settlement of four water-driven grinding cabins, of which the first was first mentioned in 1598. The last of the grinding shops was in operation until 1974, when it was given up in favor of a locksmith's shop with an attached scrapyard .

The Ronsdorf-Müngstener Railway ran through the Morsbachtal parallel to the Morsbachtalstraße and was primarily used to transport raw materials and finished goods from the companies.
