Mining Authority Sauerland

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Sauerland mining area was established in 1932 and transformed into the Sauerland Mining Authority in 1943 . It existed until it was merged with the Siegen Mining Authority in 1965.

Responsibilities

In 1932, a Sauerland mountain area was established, initially with headquarters in Siegen and from 1937 in Arnsberg . This emerged from the previous mountain areas of Arnsberg and Brilon . Responsibility now extended to the districts of Arnsberg , Brilon , Meschede , Olpe and Wittgenstein .

Apart from Wittgenstein, this essentially corresponded to the area of responsibility of the old electoral Cologne mining authority for the Duchy of Westphalia . In addition to the discontinued iron ore mining , copper , zinc , lead and pyrites in particular were extracted in the area . Parts of the slate mining were also subject to supervision under mining law.

In 1943 the area was upgraded to the Sauerland Mining Authority. As before, it was subordinate to the Bonn Mining Authority . The responsibility now extended to the urban district of Lüdenscheid and the district of Altena .

The mining offices of Sauerland and Siegen were combined to form the mining office of Siegen in 1965, and this was expanded to include additional areas from the administrative districts of Arnsberg , Düsseldorf and Cologne . This mining authority no longer exists either.
