history

Coat of arms of the former municipality of Bergfelden

Early traces of settlement date from the 5th to 3rd century BC. It was first mentioned in a document in 1222. As early as the 14th century there was a Romanesque stone church with defensive walls . In the 16th century, the late Gothic Remigius Church was built in its place, a fortified church within the ring wall. Today it is the dominant building and the town's coat of arms. There were two waves of emigration in the 19th century, to Russia in 1817 and to America from 1833 to 1883. In addition, the salt production by brine, which existed until 1943, was expanded during this time. In the 20th century there were several major construction projects in the place (1920 town hall, 1934 milk collection point , 1949 sports field, 1952 school house, 1957 Bach correction, 1974 kindergarten, 1980 sewage treatment plant, 1982 sports hall).

On January 1, 1972 Bergfelden was incorporated into the town of Sulz am Neckar.

On January 1, 1973 the district of Horb was dissolved, whereby Bergfelden came to the district of Rottweil as a district of Sulz am Neckar.

In the competition " Our village should be more beautiful " the place won a bronze medal in 1989/1990 and a silver medal in the 1999/2001 state decision.
