The Bergisch-Märkische Plateaus , also called Nordbergische Plateaus , are a main natural spatial unit with the order number 338.1 in the northeast of the Bergisches Land , part of the Rhenish Slate Mountains .
They include the north of the Oberbergisches Kreis with Radevormwald , Hückeswagen and Radevormwald, the southeast of Wuppertal , the east of Remscheid , the south of Schwelm and smaller parts on the western edges of Ennepetal , Halver and Kierspe . The plateaus lie at a height of 200 to 400 m and are stepped and cut. They are based on a fold hull of Paleozoic rocks in an area with high precipitation and are divided into subordinate natural areas.
