Bernadus Swartbooi

Bernadus Clinton Swartbooi , erroneously also more often Bernardus (born October 11, 1977 in Tses , South West Africa ), is a Namibian politician , former governor of the ǁKaras region , former vice minister for land reform and ex-member of SWAPO .

Swartbooi fell out of favor with President Hage Geingob in 2016 and was dismissed as vice minister and expelled from SWAPO. He then founded his own land reform initiative , the Landless People's Movement , which was recognized as a political party in 2019 .

Swartbooi went to school in Keetmanshoop and later studied at the University of Namibia . In the meantime he was President of the Namibia National Students Organization , the largest student body in the country. Swartbooi holds degrees as a teacher and lawyer.

From 2010 to 2015 Swartbooi was governor of the ǁKaras region, from 2015 to 2016 Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Land Reform. Before that, he worked as a consultant in the office of the Namibian Prime Minister .

Swartbooi ran as a candidate in the 2019 presidential election with 2.7 percent of the vote.
