Bernard Friot (* 1951 in Saint-Piat , Département Eure-et-Loir ) is a French author and translator of children's and youth literature .

Bernard Friot worked as a teacher in Lille before he headed the Bureau du Livre de Jeunesse in Frankfurt am Main , part of the Institut Français there. Then he settled in Besançon .

Since 1988 he has regularly published stories, short stories, novels and poems for children and young people. His Histoires pressées and Histoires minute , which have seen several sequels, are particularly well known . In his works, Friot poetically and sensitively explores all states of mind and soul, especially young people. He describes himself as écrivain public and often seeks contact with his readership, in whom he sees a great source of inspiration.

Only a few of his works have appeared in German. However, his youth novel Un autre que moi was on the shortlist of the Prix ​​des lycéens allemands in 2004/05 . In addition to his work as an author, Friot has translated numerous works by Quint Buchholz , Wolf Erlbruch , Peter Härtling , Christine Nöstlinger , Mirjam Pressler , Andreas Steinhöfel , Uwe Timm and Rafik Schami into French.
