Bernard Meyer (born May 24, 1948 in Papenburg ) is a German engineer, bearer of the Werner von Siemens ring and owner of the Meyer shipyard .

Bernard Meyer is the son of Joseph-Franz Meyer (1908–1998) and Berna born. Beckmann (1915-2009). His great-grandfather was Joseph L. Meyer (1846–1920).

From 1968 to 1973 he studied shipbuilding in Hamburg and Hanover . He took over the management of the Meyer shipyard from his father in 1982.

The award of the Werner-von-Siemens-Ring was justified in 2008 with the fact that it represented "an exceptional phenomenon among German engineers, produced groundbreaking technical developments and implemented them in its modern shipyards in Papenburg and Rostock." In 2015 he renounced the Award of the Emsland Medal . In 2018 he was awarded the Finnish Order of the White Rose .

Bernard Meyer is married and has five children. The sons Jan and Tim are also active in the management of Meyer Werft. In an interview in March 2018, he said: “I have transferred my shares in the company to my children, who are themselves active in the shipyard. [...] I no longer make decisions without my sons. "
